Discovery DMA 850: A research quality DMA that provides complete viscoelastic measurements on materials from 1000 Pa to 1000 GPa. The instrument features a newly designed drive mechanism that is optimized for precise, direct control of force or displacement in oscillatory and static modes of operation. An optimized cast aluminum base and stiff composite drive system provide accurate measurements up to 18 N of force while low friction air bearing supports ensure sensitivity to 1 mN. The non-contact drive mechanism and linear optical encoder permit deformation amplitudes from 0.0005 to 10 000 μm with resolution of 0.1 nm. The frequency range of operation is 0.001 to 200 Hz.
